Raging Rex 3 Bonus Features

It's a classic duo of Scatter and Wild special symbols presented here, along with the Re-Spin and Free Spin feature. The last one is a complex of three distinct bonus features, but which one would be triggered is totally up to you. Let's observe all of these mentioned above a bit more thoroughly.

Wild

Expanding Wild Symbol

There are as many as two types of Wilds here. The first one is an adult Tyrannosaurus Rex, having a 1x4 size and capable of fully occupying the landing reel. The other has a 1x1 size and depicts the Rex's hatchling. Nonetheless, both can substitute any paying symbol on the play grid, except Scatter. Adult Rex falls only within 2 - 6 reels. Its hatchlings land anywhere on the play grid.

Wild Symbol

Re-Spin feature

The 1x4 size Wild symbol can start the Re-Spin feature, which triggers by landing the full Tyrannosaurus Rex image on the reel. Immediately after that, the Re-Spins feature starts. Within it, Rex gradually walks to the leftmost reel (the 1st), one step per spin. So, the maximally possible amount of respins is 5, whereas the minimum is 1

If there are hatchling Wilds on the play grid during the Re-Spin feature, either behind or in front of adult Rex, they, too, turn sticky ones and move with the same speed and in the same direction until reaching the 1st reel (for those in front of Rex) or respins end (for those behind Rex). That additionally increases your chances of a big win. During the next spin, after Wild ends up traveling to the first reel, adult Rex abandons the playfield along with the remaining on the playfield sticky hatchlings.

Scatter

It needs at least 3 Scatters landed down the reels to trigger the FS round. The maximum number of Scatters capable of falling simultaneously on the play grid is 6.

Scatter Symbol

Free Spins

As we alluded to above, there are 3 different types of the bonus game. After the needed amount of Scatters makes the FS round start, first, there is a pop-up window proposing to choose the one you like the most.

Hatchling Mania

The more Scatters that trigger this bonus game mode, the more free spins you could be counting for:

This one bonus mini-game is all about tyrannosaurus hatchlings who are on their first time hunting. Therefore, any 1x1-sized Wild appears on the play grid within these free spins, turns sticky, and stays on the reels all the FS round, whereas an adult mom-Rex this time won't show you his cute face even once.

To smooth out your sadness about it, hatchling Wilds may bring a multiplier of x2 or x3 values to multiply the prizes of winning combinations they are partaking in. Moreover, if two or more Wilds with multipliers are part of the same prize sequence, their values are multiplied by each other before applying.

During free spins, hatchling Wilds don't stay locked, but, on the contrary, with every single spin, each one moves in its random direction on the occasionally choosing position without any distance restrictions. That makes this mode as profitable and unpredictable as possible.

There is also retriggering possible in this bonus mode:

This FS mode has an identical relationship between the number of landed Scatters and the initially provided quantity of free spins:

Within this mode, Rex is the only star presented as a 1x4 size image that occupies one of the reels by its full height for all the free spins duration, starting with the first-ever. No other adult Rex can't land on the reels during free spins, whereas its hatchlings appear well possible.

Before the hunting starts, the prey has to be chosen amongst those four paying symbols, depicted as dinosaurs of different kinds. Immediately after a random one of them is taken as a target, the tyrannosaurus' prehistoric Hunger Games starts. This mode is kind of similar to the previous one, except that Rex moves only to the left or the right. However, the global similarity is that the distance it moves on with every following spin, Rex chooses randomly.

Four paying symbols

Each time Rex gets through the prey picture or covers it when stopping, that dinosaur counts as a consumed one. Right in the right-up corner locates a 6-point death scale, counting how many dinosaurs have currently eaten. When that amount equals 6, the scale resets, making at the same time the Rex multiplier +x1 more. And there are no limits to the final multiplier value amount.

You need at least 2 Scatters to land on the reels during the free spins to get a retriggering:

Survival

This bonus game mode is quite different because of its Hold & Win mechanics and a much smaller play grid. There is a 4x4 playfield with a 2x2 centrally positioned Rex image in it. All the 12 tiles left are filled with every spin by the blank or paying dinosaur symbols.

There are four of them, and all have multiplier values (x1, x2, x5, and x10). Each landed dinosaur has to be eaten by the Tyrannosaurus, while its multiplier summarizes with the Rex's current multiplier value. The dead dinosaur turns into a Bone symbol that becomes locked in place until the right-up corner scale doesn't fill up. When the scale fills up, it resets, clearing the playfield from the Bone symbols and increasing the current dinosaurs' multiplier values by their starting amount. Initially, that death scale consists of only 6 points, but due to every reset, that value grows +1 until it is 8.

This Hold and Win bonus game lasts a minimum of 3 spins due to the scale with a limited number of lives, the max quantity of which is 3. Every spin reduces their amount by one. Luckily, each landed dinosaur picture makes scale refills up to the initial life's amount, despite what exactly its current number is.

This time, the initial Scatter quantity does not influence the proposed respin quantity. However, each special symbol above a minimum number of 3 grants an upgrade for dinosaur multipliers just before the game starts. Hence, landing 6 Scatters gets you, in case of choosing this mode, three consecutive dinosaur multipliers upgrade even before the first-ever respin has been done.

The eventual multiplier value multiplies the current stake and credits the balance by the received money amount.

Our Experience Playing Raging Rex 3

To find out what it is like playing the Raging Rex 3 video slot, we made a 300 spin session, having a €1 per spin stake and a €200 game balance.

During the first 100 spins, we did not get any FS triggering, but we got 3 Re-Spins feature activations within the base game. Those earned us €23.2. Also, there were 25 regular wins, including 13 that turned out lower than our €1 bet. But the most surprising part was that the most elongated non-wins period totaled 16 spins, which, in our opinion, is too much for the Medium variance slot. The final balance after the 100th spin goes away amounted to €150.7.

The second 100 spins became much luckier, bringing us two FS rounds. First, the Hatchling Mania mode got three extra free spins due to 3 additional Scatters within the bonus game. After 10 FS were out, we had €59.3 of the total win. Only four spins later, the second bonus game started, the Feeding Frenzy mode, which got two extra free spins and eventually brought €42.4 cash prize. Also, there were twice Re-Spin feature triggering, earning €14, whereas the number of regular wins was just 17, 9 of which did not bring us even an amount of €1. That is why the final balance result totaled €179.1.

The third 100 spins gave us a winning combo of the Re-Spin and Free Spin features that have been activating each just once. Those made us €32 and €35, respectively. This time, the number of regular wins drastically slowed to 11, 6 of which were less than the current stake amount. Among the clue reasons for that were long non-winning periods, the most elongated of which totaled 22 spins. So, the final balance was €158.8, which means that, during this game session, we lost overall €41.2.

As you can see, the main conclusion of this short experiment is too long non-wins periods for a Medium volatility video slot and a sufficiently strange effect of downfalling regular win frequency within those hundred spins that successfully triggered the FS round. That's largely why we never made it to the plus side despite frequent free spins triggering.

Raging Rex 3 Verdict

To sum things up, this is quite an outstanding gambling diversion with astonishing graphics, a perfectly tuned soundtrack, and also plenty of animations on the play grid and in the backdrop.

Besides perfect performance, there are also a lot of features that, by far, will thrill you. Among them are base game respins, which can be highly profitable due to the additional sticky Hatchling Wilds, and as many as three bonus games with sticky Wilds of both types and Hold & Win mechanics. If you are not nooby to this Raging Rex slot series, that last feature will present you with excitement due to its originality and undoubtedly lucrative. Whereas carefully saved others beloved by many bonus features let you feel the same thrill playing this slot as it was with its predecessors.

Talking about drawbacks, the biggest among them is RTP value ranging. Of course, as with most Medium variance slots, this one has a lot of payments that don't cover the initial bet. Also, as demonstrated by our practical playing experience, sometimes there are way too long non-wins periods, not that typical for games with a mentioned level of volatility. Anyway, this slot has everything to make you rich & happy. But what exactly will come true among these two is just a matter of your good luck!
